Moonstruck Pottery owner, LeaAyn, offers wheel throwing, hand-building, and sculpture classes for those interested in learning the art of pottery. LeaAyn has been a professional pottery instructor for nearly 20 years. The studio is part of the Central Arts Collective in Mobile. Classes are taught either one-on-one or in small groups, focusing on your interest and skill level. You might also see LeaAyn at the Mobile Museum of Art and the Heritage Gallery on Dauphin Island where she also teaches pottery. 

The Kiln Studio & Gallery

The Kiln Studio & Gallery is located in Fairhope, about a 30-minute drive from Mobile. The Kiln offers both a gallery to showcase ceramic artists and a studio where pottery instructors offer classes. Classes offered include hand-building, a beginner wheel throwing class, and an advanced wheel throwing class. Classes are run for six weeks. Beginners will start with basic techniques and progress to working with stoneware. All work will be microwave and dishwasher safe. The Mobile Museum of Art offers a pottery class for every skill level. Learn to throw clay on the pottery wheel in the six-week beginner class. This class will provide instruction on centering, throwing, and glazing clay. You will finish up the six-week class with functional pieces like bowls, cups, and vases you can proudly display and use at home. Next, take their hand-building class and learn the techniques of pinching, coiling, surface decoration, and glazing.
